Construction Defects – Construction Deficiencies

Courts, construction experts, and lawyers typically categorize construction defects in one of four broad categories: design deficiencies/defects, material deficiencies/defects, construction deficiencies/defects, or subsurface deficiencies/defects.

Poor workmanship is probably the most common and most litigation issue in construction defect lawsuits.  Regardless of the quality of materials or design, improper installation can result in a long list of defects. A frequent problem is water infiltration through some portion of the building structure, which may create an environment for mold growth or other problems.  Poor workmanship can also result in unacceptable cracks in foundations or walls, electrical and mechanical problems, plumbing leaks, and pest infestation.
